Hurley, WI
Julius (Jocko) Quello, 75, of Hurley and former Mohawk resident passed away early Sunday afternoon (February 23, 1997) at Grand View Hospital in Ironwood where he was a surgical patient for the past week.
Jocko was born on Dec 11, 1921 in Mohawk a son of Batt and Maria Quello. He had attended the local schools of the area and was a graduate of Calumet High School, Class of 1942.
He was a truck driver from 1955 to 1985 for the Keweenaw County Road Commission retiring as foreman in 1985.
For most of his life he had lived in Mohawk and since 1986 he has made his home in Hurley, Wi. For 7 years while in Hurley he worked for Hurley Transit as a School Bus Driver
He served in the Maritime Service from Nov 1942 to Jul 1947 an Ensign during WW II for the Merchant Marines
He was married to Virginia (Hoganson) Polkinghorne on Nov 5, 1960 in Berkley, Michigan
He was a member of
St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ironwood
Bethany Lutheran Church of Keweenaw was on the Church Council for 12 years,
a choir member, and had taught Sunday School

He is survived by

his wife: Virginia

a son: Paul (Tiffanie) Quello; Petoskey, MI

2 step sons
Keith (Patti) Polkinghorne; Hurley
Bob (Sharon) Tebeau; Detroit

8 grandchildren

7 great grandchildren

2 sisters:

Anita (Ray) Trione; Jackson, MI

A funeral service will be held at Erickson Crowley Funeral Home of Calumet at on 5:00 on Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Allen Goodrich officiating.

Interment will be in the spring at Lake View Cemetery in Calumet

Friends may call from 3:00 on Wednesday afternoon until time of services at the
Erickson Crowley Funeral Home of Calumet

A memorial will be held at later date at St. Paul Lutheran in Ironwood.
