Calumet
Lucille “Lucy” Ann Destrempes, 92, of Calumet, passed away early Friday morning at Houghton County Medical Care Facility, where she had been a patient/resident for the past four years.
Lucy was born on June 8, 1922, daughter of the late Dominic and Maria (Contratto) Tamborino.
She Graduated from Sacred Heart School in 1941, and after graduation she went on to Columbus Hospital School of Nursing, in Chicago for 3 years; received a degree as a Registered Nurse from Loyola University in 1946. She began employment as a nurse at Memorial Hospital in Laurium, St. Joseph Hospital, Our Lady of Mercy and lastly a school nurse at Lake Linden School.
On August 2, 1947 she married Ben Destrempes at St. Mary’s Church in Calumet, and he preceded her in death in 1994. Also preceding her in death was her parents, sisters: Mary Picotte and Genevieve Jenich and brothers John, Ernest and Dominic.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Calumet.
She is survived by
Her daughter; Luann (David) Bastian of Laurium
Three grandchildren; Jim, Lauri, and John
Eight great grandchildren; Ashley, Nicole, Zachary, Dominic, Meadow, Daisy, Joel, and Hunter
Three great great grandchildren; Marius, Jaelynn, and the third is still on the way.
Her Twin sister; Marian Ciucci of Pontiac, Michigan
And many nieces and nephews
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday December 16, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Sacred Heart Church in Calumet with Fr. Abraham Mupparathara and Deacon Art Stancher to officiate.
Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet on Tuesday from 9-10:30 AM.
