Lempi “Sylvia” Eix, age 89, a resident of Calumet passed away on Tuesday November 10, 2015 at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility.

Sylvia was born on November 7, 1926 to Otto Oscar Alexander and Sigrid Peterson in Calumet, Michigan.

Sylvia attended Calumet High School and graduated with the Class of 1943.

Sylvia married Byron T. Eix on September 28, 1950 in Des Plaines, Illinois.

Together Sylvia and Byron lived in the Chicagoland area for 20 years before returning to the Copper Country in 1975.

Sylvia was a member of multiple organizations and clubs in the area

Sylvia is preceded in death by: her husband Byron, Son David, sisters: Marjorie Adams, Ruth Karjalaninen, Virginia Junttila, Ester Kemi, Alice “Lovey” Honkala, and Margaret Harju, and brother; Gordon Peterson.

Funeral services for Sylvia will be held on Saturday November 14, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet with Pastor David Taivalkoski to officiate. A luncheon will follow the service at the Siskiwit Reception Hall.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday November 14 at the funeral home.
