Beatrice A. Niemi, 81, a resident of Calumet passed away on Tuesday November 7, 2017 in Lake Linden.

She was born on August 11, 1936 to Thomas C Thompson and Laura (Katisko) Dreyer in Detroit. She was later adopted by her stepfather Anthony Dreyer.

She attended the local schools, and after high school she went on to complete her studies in medical coding.

After completing her studies, Beatrice began her career in medical records at Calumet Public Hospital. After working at Calumet Public Hospital she went to work at Portage Health, where she retired as office manager in the medical records department in 2003.

On January 6, 1953 she married Melvin R. Niemi at the Sacred Heart Church in Calumet.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Laura Dreyer, a daughter Jeannine, and a son Larry.

Her husband of 64 years, Melvin

Her son: Ken (Laura) Niemi of Lake Linden

Her daughters: Darlene (Randy) Buckner of Vestaburg, MI
Melissa "Missy" Baillod of Madison, WI

Grandchildren: Jason, Jaime, Josh, Richard, Scott, Danielle, Tonia, Melanie, Levi, Justin, Nikki, and Alex

Great grandchildren: Caiden, Mackenzie, Isaac, Isabella, Jillian, Jace, and Jeremy

Brother: Mike Dreyer

Sister: Toni Russell

And numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet on Saturday November 11, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm with George Newman to officiate.
