Obituary for Sylvia I. Ziedell

April 22, 1996 Monday Mohawk


Sylvia I. Zeidell, 97, a former resident of Central St. Mohawk & presently was a resident patient at Cypress Manor Nursing Home in Hancock passed away late Monday evening April 22, 1996 at the Keweenaw Memorial Medical Center where she was a patient for one day.

The former Sylvia Forstrom was born on Dec. 4, 1898 in Finland a daughter of the late Sarah & John Forstrom. She came to the U.S. in 1900 first residing in Portage Entry & later moved to Hebbard Location in 1904. She attended school in Mohawk. She later lived in Fulton, Calumet, Duluth, Minn. Detroit & New York City for 21 years Pennsylvania & Missouri and since 1961 has made her home in Mohawk. Since Feb. of this year she was a resident-patient at Cypress Manor Nursing Home in Hancock. She was employed as a supervisor for Chrysler Corporation for 18 years & also worked as a telephone operator for a few years.

She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Mohawk.

She was preceded in death by her parents 2 sons Thomas & Benjamin a Grandson Thomas 3 brothers & 6 sisters.

Several Nieces, Nephews & Cousins

A memorial service will be held Friday at 11:00 A.M. in the Bethany Lutheran Church of Keweenaw with the Rev. Allen Goodrich to officiate. At the request of the deceased their will be no visitation. The Erickson-Crowley Funeral Home of Calumet is in charge of arrangements.
