Obituary for William Donald Erickson

William Donald Erickson, 64, a resident of Ahmeek passed away on Friday June 18, 2010 at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium. He was know as “Biffer”

Bill was born on March 24, 1946 in Hancock a son of the late Harold and Bertha (Huttala) Erickson.

Bill graduated from Calumet High School with the class of 1964. He attended MTU for one year then left to join the Marine Corp being stationed in Vietnam for 13 months.

On October 28, 1972 he was united in marriage to Susan Spagnotti. They had two children, Ginny (Jason) Bricker of Croswell, MI and Amy Erickson of Mohawk. He is also survived by three grandchildren Ashley, Cody and Chase whom he loved very much. A special Jeopardy partner Rebecca Walker. Sister June (Tom) Slattery of Arizona and a brother Ron (Della) Erickson of Wisconsin. His loving companion Susie.
Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother Gerald Erickson.

Bill was an avid rock hound and has a passion for metal detecting. He and Susie spent many hours in the Keweenaw searching for rocks. Bill was a loving father and will be missed by his many friends throughout the Keweenaw.

Bill worked for Kohler in Wisconsin for 2 years before moving back home. He went to the police academy in Marquette and graduated in 1975. He them worked for the Keweenaw County Sheriffs Department a deputy for several years. He was also employed by the Interlake Steamship Co. retiring in 2001. In his retirement years he worked for the Keweenaw County Road Commission and for Fort Wilkins State Park and marina.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday June 22, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet with Pastor Travis Seppala to officiate.

Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home on
Monday (Today) from 6-9PM and one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday.

Burial and military honors by the Copper Country Veterans Association will be held in the Calvary Cemetery in Ahmeek.
