Mary Yowell, 72, a resident o Keweenaw Pines Mohawk passed away Wednesday morning at the Calumet Public Hospital shortly after being admitted following an apparent heart attack. The former Mary Vairo was born on October 28, 1918 in Mohawk and worked at Our Lady of Mercy Convalescent Hubbell and also at Mullens Dry Cleaners in Calumet for many years retiring in 1984. She was married to John Yowell on July 1, 1941 in Hancock and he passed away on April 5, 1978. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Annie and Lena and 1 brother James and 1 Grandson Larry.
Surviving are:
2 sons: John Yowell of Detroit and William (Linda) Yowell of Calumet
2 daughters: Mary (Kenneth) Mikko of Ahmeek LaVerne (Philip) Kytta of Mohawk
11 Grandchildren
1 Great Granddaughter
1 sister: Theresa Vairo of Mohawk
