Calumet
Jerome “Jerry” Cane, 51, a resident of Calumet passed away at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on June 8, 1959 in Detroit, the oldest son of five children to Lawrence “Dinty” and Joan (Steele) Cane.
He attended and graduated from Detroit area schools. In 1986 he moved to Calumet where he worked as a chef for several area restaurants.
Jerry loved music and enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching Red Wing hockey and shooting pool.
As the ‘Big Brother’ he was extremely loving and protective of his siblings and family.

Colleen Cane of Calumet
1 Brother: John (Kaitlin) Cane of Green Bay, Wisconsin
Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family is extremely grateful to Caleb Thompson of Copper City who was Jerry’s best friend. Throughout Jerry’s illness, Caleb remained loyal, caring, and supportive. The family also wishes to thank Ms. Mary J. Scholten (the love of his life) of Holland, Michigan for being there for him as well.
By his friends, Jerry will be sadly missed and remembered for his ability to see the best in people and to always make you laugh. By his family, especially Sue and Colleen, he will be sadly missed and remembered for his love, encouragement, support and his great big bear hugs.
A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Sacred Heart Church in Calumet with Father Wayne Marcotte to officiate. Friends may call at the Erickson-Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet on Friday from 6:00-8:00 PM. Condolences may be left for the family at www.ericksoncrowley.com
