Mary Jo Crawford, 56, a resident of Calumet passed away following a lengthy illness on Monday February 7, 2011 at her home with her family by her side.
She was born on May 16, 1954 in San Jose, California a daughter of Joseph and Grace (Giachino) Lukezich. Shortly after her birth she moved back to Calumet and resided here until her death.
Mary Jo attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Calumet High School with the class of 1972 She went on to attend Michigan Tech receiving her associates degree in business.
She met Jim Crawford in 1974 and they were married on September 6, 1975 in Copper Harbor.
Mary Jo worked at the Upper Peninsula District Health Department until 1989, when she began working at Keweenaw Home Nursing and Hospice where she worked until 2009.
She enjoyed many activities such as gardening, decorating, spending time in Copper Harbor with her cousins Barb & Chuck Granger and following the Calumet High School Hockey Team. But most importantly spending time with her one and only grandson Easton
Mary Jo served on the Calumet Twp. Board as a trustee and was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Calumet.
Preceding her in death was her dear Uncle Francis Giachino, Aunt Rose Anne Lukezich and father in law Harold Crawford.

Very dear friends and family: Tina Giachino of Hancock, Laura Lukezich of Gladstone, Cindy Griffin of Bootjack and Julie Dlubala of Calumet.
Mary Jo’s love for her family and friends stretched beyond what anyone could imagine and she will be greatly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday February 9, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Sacred Heart Church in Calumet with Fr. Wayne Marcotte to officiate.
Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet on Tuesday from 5-9 PM with a prayer service to be held at 8:45 PM on Tuesday.
