9 Great Grandchildren

3 Sisters-in-law: Betty Taipalus, Clare Taipalus, and Pat Roby

Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins

Hez was very proud that she had been a lifetime resident of the Keweenaw, a true “Yooper”. Some referred to her as a “Legend” which gave her a laugh.

Her first job was at the Vienna Bakery in Calumet. She also worked as a bartender at both Bardos Bar in Ahmeek and the Gay Bar. Her wild sense of humor endured her to many and was a constant source of entertainment for family and friends.

She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary of Mohawk. Hez was a great cook and baker, her Finnish Rye Bread was exceptional, the first to go at the auxiliary bake sales.

Some of her favorite hobbies were needlework, fishing, and feeding her birds. To keep her mind sharp, puzzle books were always alongside her chair. She also enjoyed playing games, like caroms, and camping with family at Lac La Belle.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff of UPCAP, Portage Health Home Aides, Aspirus Home Nursing and her physician Dr. Hafeman for their wonderful care and concern which enabled Jean to live at home.

Visitation will be Wednesday August 28 from 4-7 pm at the Erickson- Crowley-Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet. The funeral service will be on Friday August 30 at 10:00 am at the Erickson-Crowley-Peterson Funeral Home. Friends may leave condolences atwww.ericksoncrowleypeterson.com.
