Obituary for Gladstone Curtis

Gladstone Thomas Curtis Sr., 83, a resident of Mohawk, passed away Friday December 13, 2013 at the Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium.

He was born January 5, 1930 in Copper City, a son of Henry & Rose (Sundberg) Curtis. He attended the Copper City School. He worked in the C& H Mines until their closing and then as a Carpenter for local companies. In 1965 he moved to Kenosha, WI and worked there as a custodian until retiring in 1992 and moving back to Mohawk.

Gladstone loved the Detroit Tigers. He also enjoyed working on the house- doing various projects. He attended the Mohawk United Methodist Church.

On October 8, 1955 he married the former Evelyn Carlson in Calumet.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by:

His wife, Evelyn;
Sons – Michael Curtis; Gladstone Curtis, Jr.; Steven Curtis; - all of Kenosha, WI;
Daughters – Merrilee (Jim) Strickland of Alvin, TX; and Linda (Ken) Martin of Kenosha, WI;
9 grandchildren – Amanda; Sara; Rebecca; Caleb; Elizabeth; April; Melissa; Jeanette; & Jonathan;
several great grandchildren;
1 great, great granddaughter, Alexandra;
1 brother, Fortunate (Nathleen) Curtis of FL.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday December 18, 2013 at 3:00 pm at the Erickson-Crowley-Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet with Pastor Bob White officiating.

Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 1-3 on Wednesday.

Spring Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
