Obituary for Gladys Marion Thomas (Rule)

Laurium. March 26, 2015
Gladys Marion Thomas, 89, of Laurium passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Our Lady of Mercy, in Hubbell.


She was born on May 27, 1925, in Traprock Valley to her parents, William and Laura (Crocker) Rule, and attended and graduated from Calumet High School with the class of 1943. She was a very active participant in both her class reunion and the all class reunion.


She worked as a bank teller for about 15 years, at Merchants and Miners, in Laurium. And on June 13, 1959 she married Charles Thomas, he passed away on February 8, 1990.


Gladys was a member of the VFW Post 3900 Aux, and Laurium United Methodist Church. She was very active in all church activities. She was also a member and sometime president of the United Methodist Women.


She is preceded in death by her parents; two step-daughters: Elizabeth Beauchene and Margaret Thomas; five brothers: William, Maurice, Floyd, Richard, & Albert; Two sisters: Jessie Butler, & Emily Luke.


She is survived by:

Her son: Mark Thomas, of West Lafayette, Indiana

Sister: Elizabeth Muzzin of Laurium

Cousin, Harold Nikka, of Calumet

Three step-grandchildren

Six step-great grandchildren

And numerous nieces and nephews


A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday March 28, at Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet, with pastor Bob White to officiate. With a visitation from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, prior to the service.
