Carl J. Lakner, age 74, a resident of Calumet passed away at his home with his family by his side on Thursday April 14, 2016.

He was born on February 1, 1942 to Joseph and Catherine (Bessolo) Lakner in Calumet.

Carl attended Calumet High School.

After high school Carl went on to work in the Foundry for the Calumet & Hecla Mining Company. After the mines closed down, Carl began his career at Northern Hardwoods. He worked there for 36 years, retiring in 2003. Carl bartended at Luigi’s Bar in Calumet for many years.

Carl was a league bowler on the Luigi’s team at Miller’s Lanes in Laurium. He was also a member of the dart team for Luigi’s.

He enjoyed going camping down in Bootjack. He was also an avid deer hunter.

Carl was a member of the Calumet Township Fire & Rescue for 35 years, St Paul the Apostle Church, the Court North Star #17 Foresters of America, and the United Steelworkers of America Union.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Joseph and Catherine, and his sister; Kathleen (Max) Rauch.

Grandchildren: John (Emilee) Rowe of Plover, Wisconsin
Josh Rowe of Calumet

Great Grandchildren: Jacalyn, Layla, and Eliza Rowe

Sister: Irene (Dan) Caulpetzer of Washington

Special Friend: Laura Lee Burcar of Calumet.

And numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday April 18, 2016, and from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday April 19, 2016 at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday April 19, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet with Deacon Art Stancher to officiate.

Burial will take place in the spring at the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.
