Esther G. Tauriainen, age 89, a resident of Laurium passed away on July 11, 2016 at Our Lady of Mercy Health and Rehab.

She was born on May 8, 1927 in Houghton County.

Esther was a homemaker with a joyous spirit the loved small children, her friends, and most of all her family. Her laughter was contagious and when she was in the room there was no lack of happiness.

She enjoyed crocheting and crafting. She loved cardinals, bowling, raisenettes, and playing peek-a-boo with small children.

She was a member of the Laurium Apostolic Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Toivo and Impi Pyorala, her sister Violet, husband Clarence, two sons; Donald and Norman (Butch) and daughter Diane.

She is survived by three grand-daughters, Sandra Tauriainen of Kingwood, Texas; Dawn (Kevin) McMachen of Humble, Texas; and Teresa (Mike) Sturek of Katy, Texas.

She is also survived by five great grandchildren; Lauren, Brandon, Savanna, Evan, and Austin.

A graveside service will be held on Monday July 18, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Waasa Cemetery with Pastor Rodney Johnson to officiate.
