Calumet September 2, 2016

Verna Cadwell, age 91 a resident of Calumet passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday September 2, 2016 at Cypress Manor in Hancock.

She was born on July 14, 1925 to Charles and Karen (Rautio) Paulson in Lake Linden, Michigan.

At the age of 7 she and her family moved to Lake Linden after the Stannard School burned.

Verna graduated from Lake Linden High School with the Class of 1942.

She worked for Calumet & Hecla Mining Company at the Lake Linden office as a secretary for C.H Benedict from June 1942 until June 1947. She also worked as a secretary at the Public Schools of Calumet-Laurium- Keweenaw from 1964 to 1976.

On July 11, 1946 she married John “Jack” I. Cadwell in Laurium and he preceded her in death on April 16, 1997.

Verna was a member of the Laurium Apostolic Lutheran Church and the DAV Auxillary.

She is preceded in death by her husband John; 5 sisters: Edna Paulson, Ellen Paulson, Effie Prior, Elma Black, and Irene Belcher; 2 brothers: Edwin Paulson, and Leo Paulson and a son in law Carl Carlman

She is survived by:
3 sons:
Jon (Sue) Cadwell of Westmoreland, TN
Brian (Amanda) Cadwell of Hubbell, Michigan
Charles (Brenda) Cadwell of Houghton, Michigan
2 daughters:
Jackie Carlman of Fort Wayne, Indiana
Sandra (Larry) Johnston of Forth Wayne, Indiana
10 grandchildren:
Samantha Wakelam, Kasey Morgan, Jennifer (Tom) Lombard, Jason (Candi) Cadwell, Michael (Janeen) Cadwell, John (Elisa) Cadwell, Scott (Amanda) Cadwell, David (Maggie) Smith, Joshua Cadwell and Jared Cadwell

12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson

And numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins

Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet on Tuesday September 5, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday. Funeral service will be held at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet on Wednesday September 6, 2016 at 11:00 am with Pastor Rodney Johnson and Pastor Jay Weidner to officiate.

Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
