Obituary for Wilbert Walter Kero

Wilbert Kero, age 95, passed away at UP Health System Marquette on Saturday, February 25, 2017.
He was born to Walerius and Amelia (Hakala) Kero on November 28, 1921 in Alston, Michigan.
He attended the local schools.
Wilbert was inducted into the United States Army in 1943. He served for over 2 years during World War II in Africa and Italy.
After being honorably discharged from the Army he went to work at Burroughs Corp. in Detroit as a machinist.
He was united in marriage to Darlene Timonen in November of 1947, and she preceded him in death on April 7, 2003.
He retired from Burroughs in 1982 and moved up to Calumet.
He was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, siblings, Bernie, Edna, Vi, Alma, Lil, Elvie, Art, and Ralph.
Surviving are:
Sons: Paul (Kathy) Kero of Negaunee
Glen (Laura) Kero of Corcoran, MN
7 Grandchildren: Matt (Lorene) Kero, Gretta (Jay) Goins, Nathan Kero, Natalie (Tim) Zbracki, Stefanie (Jacob) Emming, Scott Kero, and Cullen Kero
10 Great-grandchildren
Sisters: Ruth, Agnes, Alice, Lois, and Karen
Sister-in-law: Beverly Kero
And numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Pastor David Taivalkoski to officiate.
Visitation will be held at Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 1, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, and one hour prior to service at church on Thursday.
Spring burial will take place at the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.
