Obituary for Carolyn Ann Jurmu (Daavetila)

Carolyn Ann Jurmu, 83, a resident of Calumet passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital.

She was born on March 8, 1933 in Waukegan, Illinois to Hugo and Hulda (Ulvinen) Daavettila.

She attended Zion High School and graduated in 1950.

On January 17, 1953 she was united in marriage to Clifford Jurmu, and he preceded her in death in 1993.

In 1967 the couple moved to Salo, and moved to Laurium in 1970.

Carol worked for Michigan Technological University for 15 years, retiring in 1993.

Carol enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Son; David, Sisters; Virginia Heinonen and Dorothy Stang, Brothers; Paul Daavettila, and Carl Daavettila.

She was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet.

Daniel (Julie) Jurmu of Kentucky

Daughters: Cheryl (Raymond) Lasanen of Bootjack
Peggy (David) Lewis of Kansas
Sarah (Alan) Anderson of Laurium

Grandchildren: Amy (Tom) Seegar, Tom (Lana) Lasanen, Trisha (Matt) Klein, Liisa (Ben) Peterson, Loreta Lasanen, Brian (Lori) Lasanen, Melissa (Erik) Anderson, Daniel (Amy) Blake, Hannah Mings, Taelor, Clifford, Marina, Oscar, Adria, Tara, Mikko, and Russell Jurmu, Michael, Thomas, McKenna Jurmu Joa Nolan, Kasi, Howard, Ashley (Jeff) Maki, Kyle Anderson, and Olivia Anderson

A funeral service will be held at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet on Tuesday February 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Pastor David Taivalkoski to officiate.

Visitation will take place at the church on Monday February 27 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, and also 1 hour before the service on Tuesday.

Spring burial will take place at the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.
