On May 17, 2017, her 90th birthday, Patricia Carlton Chopp passed to Our Lord and is now at peace.

Pat was born in Laurium on May 17, 1927 to Fred and Catherine (Cassie Viani) Carlton. Pat's parents died when she was young. She was then raised and loved by Pete and Eleanor (Viani) Baudino and Maude Carlton. Her life was enriched by the closeness of many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pat is preceded in death by her parents and infant sister Nancy and brother Frederick (Fritz) of Agate Harbor. Pat's husband Edward died on August 10, 2015. They had been married for 66 years.

Pat is survived by Bob of Traverse City and daughter Linda (Mike) Smith of Agate Harbor. Pat is also survived by her step granddaughter Jennifer (Major Thomas) Hudson and great grandchildren Owen and Katie of Lorton, VA. Watching the children on Jen's Blog was one of Pat's daily joys.

Pat truly loved her family and friends. Her brother Robert Carlton of Lake Linden, and sister Mary K (Bob) Masnado of Agate Harbor, and sister-in-law Dorothy of Agate Harbor. Special sister Carol Carlton of Eagle Harbor and special brother Bud Baudino of the Lakeshore. Pat is also survived by sister-in-law Rose Chopp Tellner of Lansing. Deceased family members were Peg Carlton, William 'Bill' Carlton and Jan Baudino.

Pat has numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Especially close family are Frank (Cornelia) of Eagle Harbor, Pat Baudino (Rodney) Mishica of Laurium, Sue Baudino (Peter) Cloutier of Gig Harbor, WA, Colleen Carlton (Randy) LaLonde of Tapiola,
Dr. Mark (Julie) Carlton of Laurium and Tom (Dr. Carol) Rapson of Lansing.

Pat graduated from Calumet High School in 1945. Pat completed two years at Carlton College in Northfield, MN then attended Catherine Gibbs secretarial School in Chicago, IL. Pat worked in Detroit. Pat also worked many years at the Chopp Insurance Agency, previously The Pichette Insurance Agency with her husband Ed.

Pat had a kind word and a gentle touch for each person she encountered. She loved to sew, make plastic crafts, and baby booties. Picking agates, greenstones and berries were a joy. Playing cards, games and going to the casino were never missed, if she could help it. She loved to travel with friends and spend time in Florida. Picnics, time at Eagle Harbor, Bootjack and Isle Royale were also highlights of her summers. She worked lovingly with Ed to make and share his bakery and soups.

Heartfelt thank you's to those who have taken care of Pat, especially Dr. Bonnie Hafeman and staff, and Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital Staff. Garden View Assisted Living staff took great and loving care of Pat and treated her with dignity and respect.
