Obituary for John Friedrich Finger

John F. Finger, 68, a resident of Calumet passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at his home.
He was born on July 16, 1949 in Hancock to Charles and Edie (Semonin)Finger.

He attended Houghton High School and graduated with the Class of 1968. After high school John attended Suomi College.

John owned his own painting business, Finger Painting. He operated the business for several years.

John was an avid sports fan. He played high school football, a bit of pick up hockey and he played softball for the Downtowner for many years. He coached hockey for many years for the Copper Country Junior Hockey Association. He loved to watch sports, and was a great hockey dad!

John loved to spend time at the camp on Lake Superior. He loved to be with his family. His children were his life!

He loved to visit and chat with everyone. He had his 2 daily coffee klatch gatherings he would regularly attend.

He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Finger Sr., his mother, Edie Finger, and his brother, Charles “Woody” Finger.

He is survived by:
His Son: Jeff (Erin Nichols) Finger of Houghton
His Daughter: Erin (James) Bowen of Elkton, Michigan
His grandchildren: Matthew, Grace, Andrew, and expecting one more

His brother: Paul (Joyce) Finger of Fort Collins, Colorado and their children; Kevin Finger, and Heather (David) Skradski their children Jake and Karli

His sisters: Carol (Wayne) Finger-Hogan of Decatur, Illinois
Nancy (Mike) Finger-Olson of Misery Bay, and their children; Brooks (Lindsey) Olson, along with their child Edie, and Brady (Kelly) Olson and their children Ahrianna, Isabelle, and Lynola
Suzanne (Barney) Finger-Banton of Marquette and their son, Zachary.

The memorial service will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet with George Newman to officiate. Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the copper country junior hockey association or any local hockey rinks.
