Obituary for Patricia Catherine MacQueen (Harrington)

Patricia MacQueen, 102, a resident of Garden View Assisted Living in Calumet passed away peacefully on Saturday morning July 21, 2018.

She was born on March 29, 1916 in Osceola a daughter of the late Timothy and Hannah (Johnson) Harrington.

She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Laurium. The Grace Harper School of Nursing in Detroit. She also went on to attend the University of Michigan.

Her places of employment included: St. Theresa Hospital in Beaumont, Texas, Copper Range Hospital in Trimountain, MI, private duty nurse to James McNaughton General Manager of Calumet & Hecla Mining Co, in his home until the time of his death, Calumet Public Hospital, visiting nurse with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in Houghton & Keweenaw Counties, Public Health Nurse with Houghton County Health Department and a Social Worker with the Department of Social Services for the State of Michigan.

On May 1, 1962 she was united in marriage to Donald MacQueen in Sacred Heart Church in Ahmeek and he preceded her in death on June 23, 1990.

Preceding her in death was her parents, husband, 4 brothers: Russell, Joseph, Paul and James Harrington, 3 sisters: Leola (John) Allaria, Mary (Patrick) Carter and Rita (Paul) Roidan

She was a life member of Sacred Heart Church in Calumet and its past altar society, Third Order of St. Francis, past member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 3900, League of Women Voters, past treasurer of Houghton District Nurses Association, Coppertown USA, Calumet Theatre and Miscowaubik Club.

She is survived by:

Her Daughter Catherine Harrington-Dube and Husband William. He was a very special son in law and she considered him her son.

Granddaughter: Leah Slattery Kozden and Husband Ed
Great Grandson: Jacob Slattery Kozden

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday July 24, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Sacred Heart Church with Fr. Abraham Mupparathara to officiate and Deacon Art Stancher to assist.

There will be no public visitation.

Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
