Obituary for Charlsie Ann Antikainen

Charlsie Ann (Cloutier) Antikainen

Charlsie Ann (Cloutier) Antikainen, 72, a resident of Calumet, MI passed away peacefully in her home strong in her faith of Jesus with her family by her side on Sunday, April 28, 2019.
She was born on April 14, 1947 in Laurium, MI, the daughter of Robert Cloutier and El Rita Rastello Cloutier. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School through 8th grade and graduated with the Class of 1965.
Charlsie worked in the medical field throughout her working years, beginning with working in the lab at Calumet Public Hospital. She also worked in various positions in doctor and dentist offices, her longest being for Peter E. Carmody, MD. Not only was he her employer Dr. Carmody and family were special friends, She then returned to Calumet Public Hospital to work in Pathology. She had a great love for the elderly and gave endlessly of herself as a devoted caregiver to many family members and friends. Charlsie was there for anybody at their time of need. She was always willing to help, no matter the cause.
Charlsie married Robert Antikainen on January 15, 1977. Her beloved husband, Robert, preceded her in death in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Candace, her brother, Robert A. Cloutier “Cougar”, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many special friends.
She is survived by her sisters, Karen (Chuck) Cavis of San Antonio, TX, Leslie Ann (Ted) Karvonen of Calumet, her brother, Peter (Sue) Cloutier of Hancock, and her brother in law David Antikainen. Her daughters, Lisa Antikainen of Iron Mountain; Laurie (Gary) Velleman of Neenah, WI; her grandchildren, Sam and Ashley Velleman, Jonathon and Joey Wahoviak, and great grandson, Montez Vellemen; nieces, Tammy Cloutier, Melissa (Darin) Moyle, nephews, Chase and Evan Cloutier, John Paul Antikainen, Eric and Leon Antikainen; great nieces, Miranda, Aili, Breanne, and Christina Moyle; and many other children who were a special part of her life. She was Auntie Charlsie to everyone.
Charlsie was a life long active member of Sacred Heart Church, and a past member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters Sacred Heart Court #517.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11:00 am with Father Gracious Pulimootil to officiate and Deacon Art Stancher to assist. Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet on Friday, May 3, 2019 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A parish prayer vigil will take place at 6:30 pm.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Fr. Casper Scholarship Fund.
