Obituary for Dorothy Hager

Dorothy Lorraine Warrick Hager, 100 years old,1 month and 2 day, a resident of Laurium passed away on Wednesday May 25, 2022 at the Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital.
She was born on April 23, 1922, in Hancock to Frederick Stanley and Ina Linda (Ohman) Warrick. Dorothy attended the local schools and graduated from Calumet High School with the Class of 1940. After graduation, Dorothy moved to Detroit where she worked as a pharmacy technician for Parke Davis Pharmaceutical. While in Detroit, she and a friend went on a mini vacation to Chicago where the sparks began to fly with her soon to be husband sitting in a diner sharing a sandwich.
On December 5, 1945, she was united in a surprise marriage ceremony to Fred Hager in Reno, Nevada. Following marriage Dorothy began travelling the continental United States with Fred as he was a claims representative. While on their trips they made sure to visit all the major attractions in the cities they toured.
Dorothy loved collecting antiques and various nick-nacks varying from lighthouses to ceramic dolls. She had a passion for copper and gold and all types of minerals, and she just loved everything. She was also very invested in her family and loved teaching her children everything she learned through life. She had a passion for gardening where she created a greenhouse each year. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Frederick and Ina Warrick, her husband Fred Hager, her 2 sons David and Keith, her sister Muriel Warrick, her brother Stanley Warrick, and her granddaughter Katie Mistelski.
She is survived by:
her daughter: Barbara Hager of Laurium
her grandchildren: Jody Wahlstrom and Ginger Thompson
Her great grandchildren: Hayley, Hillary, Andrew, Hannah, and Alex Chambers, Chance Rich, Brandon Rich, and Joshua Coates
Her grandson-in-law: Russell Chambers
daughter-in-law: Chris Hager
Her nephews and nieces from the King Family. Also, survived by great great grandchildren and other numerous family members.
Per Dorothy’s wishes cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
