Obituary for Kurt Hamlin

Kurt Alan Hamlin, age 67 passed away unexpectedly on Thursday November 17, 2022. He was born on September 14, 1955 to William E. Hamlin Jr. and Audrey L (Harper) Hamlin in Tawas, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law, Skip Lewis and his beloved son Kevin Hamlin.

Kurt is survived by his adoring wife, Laurel (Lewis) Hamlin of 36 years as well as his sons Kraig and Jordy Hamlin.
Kraig blessed him with grandchildren Olivia, Luke, Kinsley and Brooklyn Hamlin and Jordy blessed him with grandpup Teal (a.k.a Stewart). Also surviving is his precious pooch Nikko, his siblings William Hamlin III (Debbie) of Oscoda, JoAnn Zilinski (Jeff) of Montrose and Candace Parkin (Dan) of Alanson as well as several nieces and nephews.

Kurt moved to the Keweenaw in March of 1987 and worked for Daytona Body Shop, Copper Country Ford and dabbled in antiques before opening Gasoline Alley in 1994.

Kurt's interests were as wide and varied as his charismatic personality and included playing basketball, slo pitch softball, snowmobiling, a brief stint at hockey, hunting, fishing, golfing, UTV trips, fantasy football, statistics of any sort, outer space, gardening, rock hounding, "stirring the pot", being the master of nicknames, the list is endless...

Most importantly, Kurt deeply loved and was so very proud of his sons and grandchildren and supported them in any dreams and endeavors that they chose.

He touched the lives of many in a profound way... here, there, and everywhere....including Las Gatas, Zihuatanejo Mexico...
