Gertrude Cramer, 85, of Royal Oak, passed away Monday, January 21, 2013, at the Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.
She was born in Laurium on September 19, 1927, a daughter of Ilmari and Jenny (Johnson) Kahkonen and graduated from Calumet High School. Gertrude was united in marriage to Cecil Cramer in 1947 and the couple resided in the Royal Oak area. Gertrude worked for Flexable Products in Auburn Hills for thirty one years, retiring in 1993.
Preceding her in death were her parents, a son Dennis, daughter, Doris, six sisters, Dorothy Weiss, Martha Matson, Margaret Sines, Elsie Kaurala, Lorraine Harty, Ruth Kahkonen, three brothers, Carl, Roy and Robert Kahkonen.
Surviving are one son, Larry Cramer of Royal Oak, two daughters, Diane (Jim) Skowronek of Sterling Heights, Donna (Jim) Cramer-Posey of Traverse City, 11 grandchildren, Eric & Nick Dentry, Brandon & Leanne Lawrence Adams, Drew Cramer, Shane & Jenny Oesterling,Nyle & Cory Skowronek, Milton & Julia Marentette, one brother, Raymond Kahkonen of Calumet, nephews, David (Janet) Kaurala, Eugene Kahkonen, numerous nieces, cousins and also her Tabby cat-"Orangie",close friends Wesley Wood,Kim Young & Kelly Jiacabone. She will be truly missed by all those who knew her,a Finn to the end & very proud of her Heritage.
The funeral service for Mrs. Cramer will be held on May 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home with the Rev. Peter Vorhes. Friends may call on Friday May 24, 2013 from 5-8 PM in the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.
